Simpson College is a four-year, coeducational, liberal arts college in Indianola, Iowa, and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. Simpson has been fully accredited by North Central Association since 1913. The college is a close-knit community with about 1,400 full-time and 300 part-time students. In addition to the Indianola residential campus, Simpson has a facility in West Des Moines. Simpson has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top 10 comprehensive colleges in the Midwest. In 2016, Washington Monthly ranked Simpson #38 on its list of "Best Bang for the Buck Midwest Colleges" (#25 among private colleges). The college has been named by the John Templeton Foundation as one of 60 colleges that offer students an exemplary first-year program. Simpson is known for a strong commitment to civic engagement and non-partisan education on public issues, exemplified by the John C. Culver Public Policy Center and by its two Pi Kappa Delta debate national championships from 2016 and 2018. Simpson's campus is located 12 miles (19 km) south of Des Moines, Iowa, providing students with easy access to the many attractions, cultural resources, and employment and internship opportunities in the Des Moines Metro.
